July 29, 2007

GT Grooming Trailers has a different market than most of our competition (we sell to businesspeople, not hobbyists). For more info on the difference between a businessperson and a hobbyist, visit our mobile grooming business school. Read the rest of this entry »

Flawed Priorities

April 22, 2007

A thread on a popular forum (notice my comments about forums here) is asking what to do in a particular situation. The author is in a pickle because she has narrowed her decision to three converters. An east coast, a west coast, and GT; which is right in the middle.

Reputation For GT Grooming Trailers

April 12, 2007

GT_screenshot.gifThis picture (click to see full size) is a screenshot of a Google window searching for “grooming trailers”. You might be wondering what those little “life saver” looking circles are next to each of the websites that are pulled up for the search. Basically, on-line users often vote on the integrity of a site using a feature called WOT. The results of those votes are portrayed in “life saver” colors ranging from green (very trustworthy) to red (dangerous).

Really Cool Dog Art! Check it out!

April 5, 2007

711_ART_LOGO_op_112x195.jpgHere’s a break from the usual mobile pet grooming posts. I just learned about some great artists. They make jewelry and also create great animal paintings. The faces on the dogs are adorable. Check out the 711art website to see unique, fun artwork. I met the artists a few weeks ago and not only do they make great stuff, they are really great people!

Wag’n Tails Has A Great Article About Vans

February 21, 2007

Substance, once again, beats fluff.

Wag’n Tails is really the only respected GIANT in the mobile grooming VAN industry. GT is big for trailers, but WGT really is the authority for grooming vans. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting And Keeping Customers

December 9, 2006

groomingfruitcake.jpgWhat a week! I’ve obviously been dealing with fruitcakes lately. Today, I got lectured by a man who called me to come out to groom his dog. Getting and keeping customers is the secret to success but he used all the “buzz words” that make mobile groomers want to hang up the phone. Words like “never groomed before, old, doesn’t like to be brushed,” experienced mobile groomers know the lingo. Truth is, our Decembers are booked out a year in advance so there was no chance that this man was going to be serviced by us. We told the man that Read the rest of this entry »

Mobile Groomers, Thanks For The Visitsssss!

December 3, 2006

We’d just like to thank our grooming readers for coming back to our grooming blog on a regular basis. Determining a site’s traffic isn’t as simple or lazy as “digging into blogger” because it monitors searches performed on blogger. Most of you find us by natural searches. The work is rewarding. Understanding a site’s traffic also helps in understanding what readers want and it looks like GT is right on target! Actual visitors, not hits, is what successful websites attract. For this blog to be less than a year old and getting great traffic means we are filling a niche that has been ignored. GT will continue to serve you!

No Hummer Needed For This Little Jewel!

October 3, 2006

You don’t need a large truck or SUV at all. Most small trucks and SUVs have a maximum towing capability of 3,500 pounds. That’s why we build the GT to weigh about 2,600 pounds - even with a full load of water. This means that the GT Grooming Trailer is more easily towed than just about any other grooming trailer on the market.

Senproco Inc. - Good People!

September 4, 2006

We would just like to share with you what we have come to learn over the last few months. Even though we have been mobile groomers for about 7 years, we just recently entered the conversion side of the industry. Being on “both sides” of the business has given us the chance to encounter numerous companies, products, and personalities. Senproco Inc. is a company that you can trust for your bathing systems and shampoos. We count on this great company for our products and you should too! Also, GroomersChoice is a distributor that offers the best grooming equipment in the industry.

You can trust these good people.

The Mobile Grooming Revolution Has Begun

July 20, 2006

Wag’nTails* was the catalyst for the mobile grooming industry’s explosion and today are considered to be the gold standard for customer service. True innovation has been advanced by honest companies like MDC Romani, Inc with their Clipper Vac® but then the grooming industry began to stagnate. Read the rest of this entry »

SERIOUS Business, SERIOUS Equipment

June 19, 2006

Folks keep asking us where we get all of our stainless steel equipment. Well, we build it ourselves. We understand why customers think that it is publicly available because so many other conversion companies simply purchase their stainless tubs from other companies and attach them to the floor of their grooming vans or trailers. They even may try to pass it off as their own. Read the rest of this entry »

REAL Grooming Van Mileage

June 18, 2006

GT is looking out for you! Make sure to look at the BIG picture when considering grooming van mileage. A trend is developing that advertises the Sprinter mileage as a selling point. The big picture, though, needs to take into account that some of the Sprinter designs on the market can only operate the AC when the engine is running. Therefore, the REAL MILEAGE of the grooming van is much less than may be advertised. Not only will the gas bill skyrocket, consider what an additional 40 hours per week of engine wear and tear will cost you. Then ask yourself, “Why would a company advertise the mileage when they know that normal van operation would distort the data so drastically?”

Mobile Grooming Trailer And Van HEAT!

June 3, 2006

With summer around the corner, the inevitable topic of “heat” is going to be on all mobile dog groomers’ minds. A great advantage of grooming in a GT Grooming Trailer over some vans is how the subject of heat is dealt with. Our grooming trailer has an insulated ceiling and the roof is made with reflective aluminum. What this means is that the sun won’t heat up the inside of your trailer as much as if it were a van that has a white painted steel roof. Some vans insulate the ceiling but do so at a tremendous sacrifice. Our previous post mentioned the low head clearance that some vans have, so insulating those ceilings actually increases that problem. With the GT Grooming Trailer, neither of these important design issues are sacrificed.
