“Follow The Leader.”
July 12, 2008
GT Grooming Trailers was the first to develop a professional-grade mobile grooming trailer. Building large is easy; building efficiently takes some thought. However, the followers still try to catch up to GT. GT’s marketing appeals to entrepreneurs’ intelligence while the copycats appeal to ignorance.
For example, a businessperson with sense is turned off when converters break the law, commit fraud to hijack a successful company’s web traffic, or out-right lie. However, hobbyists (mobile groomers who don’t make money) tend to be reeled in by those tactics.
Over the last year, six companies have stolen content, code, and other property from GT to try to compete. One of those companies even stole our tracking script while copying our source code. It looks like this year will be the same. Here’s just a sample of what’s currently being done:
Some of you have landed on a grooming conversion company other than GT when searching the Internet specifically for us. The reason is because some followers have put our company name in the “fine print” of their websites. Curtis Hanvey of Hanvey Specialty Engineering has put variations of our name in the “fine print” of their groomingtrailer home page . Using variations of GT’s name proves intent and HSE’s intent is to apparently gain traffic from the companies they fear most. HSE “cleverly” includes the names of many companies they fear in the “fine print.”
Gryphon Trailers has done the same sort of thing in the past by having our company name in the metadata of their company website. Gryphon Trailers is just one of the companies who has tried to copy GT’s success. Today, they have a “budget version” of a GT-scale grooming trailer advertised as being “the most space in a 5×8 trailer.” Obviously not true, as the thumbnail picture proves (click picture to enlarge), but Gryphon’s “guerilla marketing” seems to overflow into fuzzy math.
“Space” must be a sore issue with Gryphon Trailers seeing as how GT’s smaller shell design has almost the same amount of workspace as Gryphon’s 12-foot trailer. GT accomplishes our goals by actually fabricating our own fixtures, having our trailers shells framed especially for GT, and by having competent employees. We don’t sacrifice quality for price-point!
So, GT looks forward to offering the best mobile salon designs in the industry. We understand how followers look up to us for inspiration, however followers are always a step or two behind;)
